Dedicated IT systems – types, use, and the process of deployment

The market offers numerous IT solutions ready to be claimed by entrepreneurs. That being said, the limited functionalities of such solutions are often not enough to run a business in an efficient way. This is where the need for dedicated IT systems, fully adjusted to the Customer's expectations, stems from.

There is no single shape of dedicated software - it may come in the form of a mobile application, a web application, a desktop application, or any combination of the three. Its significant asset is that it can develop alongside the ever-changing business environment. It is important for the system to solve a specific problem and to adjust to the company's policy and internal procedures, as well as to what the users are already used to. These are its advantages over pre-made applications.

So in what fields are dedicated IT systems useful?

  1. Management

    The main function of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems is to integrate all the running processes together with the use of a single tool. The application crafted for an individual customer guarantees meticulousness directed towards Your company, and Your company only - not the entire field.

  2. Analytics and statistics

    Business intelligence (BI) systems make it possible to present research results derived from multiple sources in a coherent way (e.g. in the form of charts, maps or infographics). The entire organisation gains thus access to a consistent knowledge base.

  3. Transport

    Dedicated applications may become the part of a large business process, e.g. facilitating warehouse management or the collection and delivery of goods.

  4. Sales

    The system may constitute a brand new sales platform, complement e-commerce or manage the relationships with Customers (CRM).

  5. Accountancy

    Legal or accounting documents are often highly confidential. Dedicated systems may process such data with no risk of it falling in the wrong hands or disclosing its real location.

If You are planning to deploy a dedicated system, You need to be aware that this process entails great responsibility. The key is to clearly define the current needs, distinguish the Customers' expectations, and be ready to share confidential information.

It is worth choosing a technical partner who will take a good look not only at Your IT problems, but also at Your company's community. The key competencies of such a person are experience and the willingness to carry out complex tasks. Take that into account during Your search and do not forget to sign a confidentiality agreement early into the cooperation.
